How To Make Your Candle Last Longer?

• Be aware that the smell of a candle can take up to 30 – 40 minutes to become evident. Unlike wax melts, much less wax can melt at a time and so it can take longer for the scent to release.
• On your first burn, always burn for approximately 4 hours to ensure the full candle surface has melted – this creates a ‘memory pool’ so when the candle is lit later, it will burn down evenly.
• Always burn the candle for at least 2 – 4 hours when lighting after the first burn, or until the entire surface has melted. This avoids a process called tunnelling where your candle melts and leaves a lot of wasted wax on the outer sides.
• As soon as the entire surface has melted, snuff out the candle to avoid the wax getting too hot. This can cause the candle to burn down faster than normal.
• IMPORTANT: Wick maintenance.
   – Trim your wick to approximately 5-6mm before each burn.
   – Your wick can also lean over to one side while burning. Before the next light, trim off this lean.
   – Sometimes a wick can ‘mushroom’. This means the wick can curl round or become splayed which means the candle burns faster and can also produce more soot.
   – Overall, trimming the wick can reduce the height of the flame which ensures the candle burns more slowly and lasts longer.
   – Ensure the wick is trimmed straight. Sometimes, when a candle is reaching the late stages and the wick is deeper, it can be hard to cut. At this point, it may be useful to invest in a wick trimmer which can easily get down into narrow tins.

Candle Safety

• Remove all packaging before you light a candle.
• Never leave a burning candle unattended.
• Do not burn a candle on or near anything that can catch fire.
• Only burn candles on a flat, heat resistant surface.
• Candles will get hot – always allow to cool before handling.
• Always allow at least 10cm between burning candles or another heat source.
• Burn candles out of reach of children and pets. Many pets can jump onto high surfaces so it is important to be aware of this when burning candles.
• Do not place candles in a draught.
• Do not move a burning candle
• Always snuff out a burning candle. Do not blow it out.
• Discontinue use when only 5 – 8mm of wax remains at the bottom of the container.
• Despite using soy wax which is significantly safer than paraffin, you should still avoid directly inhaling any smoke.
• Trimming your wick is encouraged as seen above. However, it is important to remove these trimmings and not let them accumulate in the candle burn pool.
• Ensure the room is well ventilated after use.
• Harmful if swallowed.
• May cause an allergic skin reaction – please see packaging for allergen information.
• If on skin, wash off with plenty of soap and water. If skin irritation occurs, seek medical advice.
• Wash contaminated clothing before reuse.
• Harmful to aquatic life with long lasting effects – avoid release into the environment.
